Educational programme: “The advantages of staying in school”

Within a framework of responsibility and freedom, Junior Achievement along with Ortiz and Co. have developed an educational programme for our close-knit community – students of the 6th grade at Batería Libertad School.
Such programme was carried out by the company’s employees who voluntarily took part in educating children and raising their awareness on the value of education and training as the means to achieve personal goals.

Aims of the programme:

• Explaining children the decision-making process.
• Showing children the relationship between education and employability and how this influences opportunities.
• Planning a budget of running costs, so as to identify how much it costs to live independently.
• Passing on and assimilating the concept of saving.
• Acknowledging children’s abilities, interests and values.
• Identifying jobs or professions in order to help children define a professional or working goal.

After completing the programme, students were invited to visit our company and have stronger need to finish their studies in order to develop personally and professionally.

Programme: “School visits”

This programme is still being applied in order to provide information regarding our production process and offering details on the company’s organizational structure.
In this way, students of different schooling ages have the opportunity of being in direct contact with a company and - through the knowledge they gain - to learn and incorporate as a value the strong relationship that exists between education and potential working opportunities in order to strengthen their willingness to remain a part of the educational system.

Visits

During the “Semana de la Industria” (Week of Industry): Semptember 2, 2008
Within the framework of the “Jornada de Portones Abiertos” (Conference of Open Doors) of the Cámara de Industriales Metalúrgicos y Componentes de Córdoba, students of the 6th grade of 25 de Mayo Technical School from Cruz Alta (Córdoba province) were invited to join the conference.

Students of the 6th grade from Ingeniero Dumesnil school in La Calera town and from IPEM Nr. 73 School.

Students of the 6th grade of Batería Libertad School.

Alumnos de 6to. y 5to. año del Colegio José A. Malanca de la Prov. de Córdoba.

The second year students from the IPEM No. 20 high-school in the province of Córdoba.

We were present in the XVIII International Fair in Córdoba.

Ortiz y Cía. S.A. presented its Stand at the FICO Mercosur.
This important International Fair brought together the most important companies in the industry from Argentina and Mercosur.
The fair had 86,000 visitors, 260 exhibitors, qualified visitors from all over the country and 50 concurrent activities.

EMAQH 2006 - International Machine Tools & Related Supplies Exhibition.

Ortiz y Cía. S.A. participated in the new edition of the International Machine Tools & Related Supplies Exhibition held in La Rural Exhibition Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
During the event, the lounge area of the stand functioned as a meeting point for clients, suppliers and industry friends.
